Making kids smile after they are hurt is what makes my job amazing.
Watching kids heal is like magic; it is what inspires me at OUCH Ortho.

We know your growing child needs specialized attention. That’s why we have a dedicated team, including board-certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon, Dr. David Brown, to handle all types of bone, muscle, ligament, and joint issues in children. Our care is tailored to each child, using non-surgical, minimally invasive, and traditional surgical methods while ensuring a supportive environment and answering all your questions.
Whether your child has a minor injury or needs long-term care, expert pediatric orthopedic services are available nearby. We appreciate your consideration of OUCH Orthopedics to care for your family and loved ones!
Dr. Brown treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions in children, from traumatic injuries like sprains and fractures to congenital issues such as hip dysplasia and limb deformities. He also addresses developmental problems, including scoliosis, cerebral palsy, and muscle diseases.
A Houston native, Dr. Brown completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin and earned his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He underwent his internship and residency at John Peter Smith/Fort Worth Affiliated Hospitals and completed a fellowship at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. He is board certified in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery.
As a physician and father of two daughters, Dr. Brown is deeply engaged with his community. “I love kids, and I love families,” he says. “I often have a chance to meet families who share connections, such as attending the same church or having kids on the same volleyball team.” In his free time, Dr. Brown enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering, snow skiing, and playing volleyball.
I'm Amanda Edwards, a Physician Assistant at OUCH Orthopedics. I was born and raised in Texas. I attended the University of Texas of Austin for my bachelor’s degree and received my Master’s degree from the Physician Assistant Program at UT Southwestern. I worked in the Children's Health Emergency department for five years as a PA, before I began working for Dr. Brown in 2015.
I love getting to know our patients and their families at OUCH, and I enjoy watching them grow and participate in the activities that bring them joy. As a mom of two, I am always busy running around the community with my kiddos.
I love cheering on my children from the stands of the baseball field, and from backstage at the dance recitals. I love spending time with my family and friends, drinking warm coffee, enjoying spicy foods, and proudly supporting the Texas Longhorns. Hook 'em!
"I love watching kids get back to the activities they love safely! We get to see bones magically heal- that's a joy to experience!"
My goal as a provider is to take into consideration each person's unique goals and challenges, and use my knowledge and skills to come up with a treatment plan to make that happen. I enjoy pediatric orthopedics because we get to see the magic of seeing bones heal and getting kids back to their activities safely.
My medical career began 9 years ago in 2015 when I was a nurse assistant at a hospital. I then worked at a Level 1 Trauma Center as an Emergency Room nurse for the next 5 years. Subsequently, I worked as a nurse practitioner in Urgent care/ER for 3 years. While in Nursing school, I worked as a caretaker for a child with Cerebral Palsy.
I am very competitive and in high school, although volleyball was my sport, I also participated in swimming, track & field (we won state 4 years in a row), and I was the drum major of the marching band my senior year. I am a huge animal lover, and I have a labradoodle that I love to take on walks. I also have 2 nephews that I love spending time with. On the weekends, you might catch me on the sand volleyball court, or playing pickleball.
"Family is everything. Thank you for trusting us with yours!"
Hi! I am Mary Kvinta. I grew up in Houston, and completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. I received my Physician Assistant degree from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
I am passionate about helping children, and I always knew that I wanted to work in the field of pediatrics. Interacting with families, providing reassurance, and helping kids feel better is what drives me every day. I'm married, and my husband is also a Physician Assistant. I'm also getting a golden doodle puppy in March!
In my free time, I enjoy reading, exercising, traveling, and cooking. I love to cook all types of food! My favorite author is Jane Austen, but I'm also an avid Harry Potter fan and would love to know your favorite Harry Potter character at your next appointment!
More often than not, your child needs to be seen the same day for a suspected broken wrist or strain, or other trauma.
Those critical hours count when it comes to your children, and how quickly their bones heal. That's why we offer same-day appointments for critical cases!
At OUCH Orthopedics, we only care for and treat children and adolescents, even the youngest members of the family! From infancy to 18 years of age, we're here for examination, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing wellness for your children.
We are here for you when you may need it the most, be it on the weekend, or in the evenings. Give us a call and you will speak directly to a member of our staff. We will schedule an appointment for your child so that we can examine, diagnose, and treat them as soon as possible.
